The Roberts Family — Les, Jacqueline, and Les, Jr. — are worshiping together regularly for the first time. Until recently, they were serving at different churches.
Jacqueline had been working at Bethel A.M.E. Church since 1954, most recently as the director of church music. At the same time, Les served as an acolyte in the Episcopal Church, first at St. Matthew’s, and then here at SsAM. He has served as an acolyte since he was nine years old in 1944. He remembers serving with Bishop Demby, an African-American Bishop who lived 1869-1957.
Their son, Les, Jr., migrated between the churches, sometimes with dad, sometimes with mom. Now that Jacqueline has retired, she has joined her husband and son here at SsAM.
At the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday, August 21, 2016, she played piano duets at SsAM with our music director, David Christopher. What a treat!
