SsAM stewardship testimonial offered on October 16, 2022 by Norwood Coleman, Sr.
Good morning.
Alice and I have attended Saints Andrew and Matthew (SsAM) since The Cathedral Church of St. John closed. We were drawn here by the welcoming activities extended to Cathedral members by SsAM.
When we began to attend early services, we were welcomed to the church. Several of our fellow early morning St. John worshippers were already attending the 8:00 a.m. service. That helped to increase our comfort at SsAM.
As many of you know, Alice and I face significant architectural barriers when trying to attend activities outside of our home. SsAM has significantly reduced those barriers for us and others with physical challenges. The church has made it easier to attend in-person services and has added the YouTube video broadcast each Sunday for those who cannot or choose not to attend in-person.
Of all of the wonderful things that comprise SsAM, the one most meaningful to me is the choice of the prayer, “Invitation to the Table”. This prayer tells me that every one is invited, those of us with much faith, those of us with little faith and those of us who have questions. This sentiment is emblematic of SsAM and I am humbled to be part of such an inclusive congregation.
Please find a way to pledge your treasures or your time to our inviting community.

Invitation to the Table
During worship services on Sundays at SsAM, the following is said aloud by all as communion is prepared at the altar:
This is the table, not of the Church, but of the Lord. It is made ready for those who seek him, those who love him, and those who want to love him more. So come, you who have much faith, and you who have little, or are questioning faith. Come, you who have been here often, and you who have not been for a long time or ever before. Come, you who have tried to follow and you who have failed. And so we come, for Christ invites us all to be known, fed, and loved here.”

… 116 pledges had been made for 2023, two more than our goal, which was to equal the number made the previous year. To make a pledge, click here.
