The next walk begins on Friday, October 7 at 5:30 p.m. in the SsAM parking lot, 713 N. Shipley Street.
These walks are a public display of our belief that society needs to be more just in terms of race, sex, economics, and more.
We begin at the SsAM parking lot and then walk to Rodney Square. These walks began in response to the murder of George Floyd, but now we are faced with more racially motivated murders than ever before. The recent murders of ten people in Buffalo showed us that things are continuing to escalate. We need to respond! Racial justice is something we feel strongly about!
We invite other Wilmington communities of faith to join with us in this public plea for justice.
Mary Lou Edgar says…
Hello Everyone! It is time for our monthly walk for Justice and Peace. So far we have had great attendance (except for our week with the thunderstorm). We are looking forward to having that again on Friday, October 7. It is exciting that our walk coincides with the beginning of Peace Week Delaware. There will be so many activities throughout the week and we are happy to be among the first. We know, now more than ever, how important it is to focus on peace in our world. The situation in the Ukraine continues to escalate, we see shootings of young and old people everywhere, the weather in Florida and up the entire east coast — people are in so much need! Please join us at 5:30 on Friday for a brief prayer in the SsAM parking log and then we will begin walking to Rodney Square. We will end with a brief prayer there as well. It takes about half an hour and is rain or shine. We only put it off if there is a thunder storm (or a hurricane). We need you to pray with us. Please try to be there! Hoping to see you on the 7th. —Mary Lou
