The Episcopal Church Women Ministry of Sts. Andrew and Matthew has always focused on ways to be and show good stewardship to others, in the church but most especially to our surrounding community.
This year we supported four charities that were in need through stewardship with the charitable giving from our parish family. This included:
The YWCA Home Life Center that provides temporary housing for homeless families and helps them find permanent residences. We through inquiry found that the families needed toiletries, home cleaning products and other items to make for a smooth transition. We provided “Welcome Home Baskets” with donation monies from our church family.
I want to add that whenever ECW puts out the call to our parish family, they always respond amazingly.
Child, Inc. needed “Cell Phones and Gift Cards” (for minutes for the phones.) This was to enable that Battered and Abused women who they provide shelter and protection for, cannot be tracked by phone, by their abusers.
Our next project is a year long “Clothing Drive” to assist our Community Partners, Friendship House and Sojourner’s Place, who give clothing away free to those in need. This drive will end by December, 2023.
Last but not least, we provided “Home of the Brave” with household items; i.e., sheet sets, towels, pillowcases, and wash cloths. This was the charitable collection for our State of Delaware Episcopal Church Women who support the Veterans Housing Program located down State. We also gave a monetary donation of $185. Again our parish family helped in a huge way.
Because we rely on the help of our parish family with any event we sponsor to help others, we greatly appreciate all the help. Your stewardship really is a blessing to those we help.
We held a “Used Book Sale” (photo above) on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at SsAM’s Crypt Hall. We had been graced with an enormous number of books that are excellent reading materials; and again our parish family and community have donated so graciously to this project. All proceeds were donated to Camp Arrowhead for camp scholarships.
For Women’s Month in March, 2024, we are having a Women’s Recognition Luncheon to honor women of SsAM who have been spiritual influences in their personal lives and at SsAM and the greater Christian communities. The committee will be contacting our members and the honorees and their families for information. So, please be on the lookout for inquiries by our committee members.
I am asking that more of our Episcopal Church Women of SsAM will become actively involved by attending our monthly meetings that are held on the second Saturday of every month beginning from September through June. We do get a break in July and August, mainly for rest to help us focus for the ensuing months and to bring new ideas for charities.
Our Stewardship contributions that we pay from our Treasury include: The Episcopal Diocese of Delaware; St Michael’s Day School and Nursery and ECW Board and last but not least, Friendship House.
Thank you for your time, talent and treasure.
Peace, Love and Blessings 🙏
