As of August 14, 2020, the SsAM Episcopal Church Women ministry has been asked by the State ECW to participate in collecting items for “The Way Home Project” and United Thank Offering (UTO).
“The Way Home” is a project to assist incarcerated persons who are being released from prison. The request is for monetary donations to purchase gift cards to be given to the newly released to get a foothold back into society. “The Way Home Project” will be responsible for purchasing the gift cards. Checks should be made payable to ECW and mailed to the church at 719 N. Shipley St., Wilmington, DE 19801. (Do not purchase gift cards.) All monetary donations will be combined with other ECW groups participating in this project.
“The Way Home” also is requesting new or used tote bags for the newly released persons to put their belongings in, such as toiletries and other personal items. The tote bags should be secured by zipper, snaps, or Velcro closings. The SsAM ECW members will begin collecting these items between 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm at the Church on these dates ONLY:
Wednesday, September 16, 2020
Wednesday, October 21, 2020
Wednesday, November 18, 2020
We will also accept cash donations and make the purchase of a tote bag on your behalf due to the pandemic. Checks should be made to SsAM ECW at same address as above and designated for tote bags or gift cards.
United Thank Offering is a project the ECW contributes to annually. As you may know, the funds collected are distributed to charities all over the world through the Episcopal Relief and Development Fund. The Ingathering is in October, 2020.
Please contact Ernestine Brock-Walker at 302 540-2717 if you have questions or need more information about these projects.
