After Easter, Now What?
A reflection by Christina Brennan Lee for April 7, 2024. How often have we simply walked through the idea of the penitence of Lent, the excitement of Palm Sunday, the passion of Holy Week, and the joyful celebration of Your miraculous Resurrection, taking it all for granted because it happens for us every year? And […]
Saint Patrick – We Hardly Know Ye
A reflection by Christina Brennan Lee for March 17, 2024. Saint Patrick is known widely as the Patron Saint of Ireland and yet he wasn’t Irish. He was a 16-year-old Romanized Briton in the 5th Century when he was captured from his home, probably by Irish raiders, and sold into slavery. For six years his […]

A Light Shines in the Darkness
A reflection for Christmas Eve 2023 by Christina Brennan Lee. The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness – on them light has shined. —[Isaiah 9:2] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. […]
It’s Not Even Lent and I’m Talking about Fast-ing?
A reflection by Christina Brennan Lee for November 12, 2023. Life moves at warp speed for many of us. So many have-to’s, so many must-do’s, so many want-to’s, so many didn’t do’s…so many shoulds, coulds, woulds … so little time. How do we know how to prioritize what is most important? How can we stop […]
Hate Cannot Drive Out Hate
“Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars… Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” —The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A reflection by Christina Brennan Lee for Sunday, October 23, 2023. As the world spins in chaos, this quote brings me back […]
Let us again be as children
When I have something to say that I think will be too difficult for adults, I write it in a book for children. Children are excited by new ideas; they have not yet closed the doors and windows of their imaginations. Provided the story is good… nothing is too difficult for children. ― Madeleine L’Engle* […]

In a Canadian murder mystery series I’ve been reading, when I should be doing other things, one of the regular characters is an elderly, eccentric ~ and/or crazy ~ but brilliant poet named Ruth. She is famous for being […]

Everything is phenomenal; everything is incredible; never treat life casually. To be spiritual is to be […]

WWNMD?
A reflection by Christina Brennan Lee, June 16, 2023. Nelson Mandela said: “I am fundamentally an optimist. Whether that comes from nature or nurture, I cannot say. Part of being optimistic is keeping one’s head pointed toward the sun, one’s feet moving forward. There were many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely […]
Get Fired Up!
A reflection for Pentecost by Christina Brennan Lee, May 26, 2023. Today we are blasé. Too many in our own SsAM real or virtual pews aren’t reading this E-Blast or Weekly Vision at all. We show up at our preferred appointed hour and go home, or watch online and don’t read what arrives in hand, […]
