At the 10:30 a.m. service on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday, we celebrate Eucharist in the tradition of Carnival and Mardi Gras with colorful beads, scarves, and boas, with silly and outlandish hats, with masks and more. It is a time to be joyous before the serious soul-searching of the Season of Lent. This service often features happy gospel numbers with featured soloists from the choir. The service concludes with “Alleluias”, the last time we use the word during worship until Easter.
