CARNIVAL SUNDAY
FESTIVAL CHORAL EUCHARIST AND SERMON,
The Sunday before Ash Wednesday, 10:30am on February 19, 2023.
Every year, God willing, our church celebrates Carnival Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. service on the Sunday before the start of Lent. It is an occasion for us to worship with great festivity in the spirit of the Mardi Gras and Caribbean Carnival traditions. You are encouraged to wear bright beads, funny hats, and festive clothing. Because of the pandemic, we were not meeting in person in 2021. In 2022, we met, but masks were not simply encouraged, they were required!
This joy-filled celebration of song, dance, word, and prayer has moments that are happy-clappy and others that are solemn, such as when we celebrate the Eucharist. We give thanks for the transforming power of God’s love in Christ. Four days later, with uplifted spirits, we embark upon the profoundly spiritual journey of Lent that begins on Ash Wednesday with services in 2022 on March 2 at 7:30am, Noon, and 7:30pm.
