Canon Casson Scholarship Application for SsAM Students

Canon Casson Scholarship Recipient 2021: Cameron Dixon

The Community Advocacy Committee is happy to report that Cameron Dixon is the recipient of a $1000 scholarship for the coming academic year. We are sad to report that Cameron was the only applicant this year. Here is a brief report regarding Cameron’s plans.

Cameron Dixon with his mother, Tracey.

“This year, I began my first year of Physical Therapy school, which is the biggest step toward my dream career to date. God’s plan for me was to always help people, whether it is through music, faith, or healthcare. This particular moment I feel is the culmination of many. In my first year at Arcadia University, I was able to achieve a GPA of 3.6 through my hard work, and have passed each practical I have had thus far. Beginning in August, I began my first clinical rotation at Valley Health Outpatient Orthopedics in Winchester, Virginia. While I am nervous, I know through God’s grace and a great team behind me that I will succeed in my first placement. Each year, the Canon Casson scholarship helped pay for the books I needed for my classes, taking the burden of cost a bit off of my family and allowed me to feel a little more secure about myself while in college. In graduate school, this scholarship has continued to help not only with books but also the countless more living expenses that come with it. It would certainly be an honor to receive this award again and continue to make myself, my family, and all of the people at SsAM proud.”

And this is his response to receiving the scholarship check. “I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for all the support you and the church has given me throughout the years. I have received the scholarship and I couldn’t be more grateful as it will help me achieve my dreams with much less hardship. I hope and plan to make everyone at SsAM proud of what I accomplish! Best and with lots of love, Cameron Dixon.”
