God’s animals inhabit the skies, the land, and the sea; we share the earth with them, and like them rely on God’s blessing to sustain and preserve us. We gather in communion and friendship with Francis of Assisi who preached to animals and moved throughout the known world sharing God’s unconditional love for all beings.
Remembering Francis’ love for all God’s creatures, we bring forward the animals entrusted to our care that they may be blessed. We did this most recently at the 10:30am worship service on Sunday, October 1, 2023.
In the photo above, Sister Rosie Castelli holds her dog as it is blessed. Rosie is a member of the Anglican Dominicans and is one of the five people who lead on-line prayer services during the week. The following hymn was sung as the animals are blessed individually.
