In the past four weeks, I have been thinking about many things I could write about. However, the main thing that keeps coming to mind is the state of our country and our world.
So, I begin by thinking and end up praying. It takes me back to being twelve years old when we had the Cuban Missile Crisis. I remember how scared my family, my friends, and I were. Each night my mother would gather the five of us together to pray for peace. That lasted for a few months after the crisis ended; but later on I found that I missed it.
Together with thinking over the last four weeks, I keep reading. I have been focusing on Steven Charleston and his book “Spirit Wheel, Meditations from an Indigenous Elder.”
This man is amazing! A true seeker, he describes himself as an elder, a Native American, and a spiritual man who searched for many years to find his community. Spirit Wheel’s copyright was in 2023, and it was printed by Broadleaf Books. I highly recommend it – it has really made me think.
We read his poem “Let The Wheels Turn” at our last Vestry meeting. Please take time to read it and let it speak to your heart. Read it every day before the election, and after! Ask the Lord to help us find peace. God bless!
