If you did not hear Father Jim’s sermon on the last day of July, he announced that he is looking forward with pleasure to serving as our church’s interim rector through the rest of 2022 and into 2023. This was greeted by applause.
He made other announcements well worth mentioning.
He announced that the members of the Rector Search Committee will be selected in next few weeks.
In the middle of August, our church will send out 3,000 mailers to area households as part of a Delaware-wide “Find A Church” campaign. That will prompt our neighbors to look at our website and entice some to visit SsAM on a Sunday. Look for them sitting in the back. Welcome them!
In seven to eight weeks, we anticipate the restart of the children’s program. Before COVID hit, we had as many as 22 youngsters attending our Sunday morning program.
This fall there will be new offerings in adult education.
There will be an expansion of worship ministries including a return of our youth acolytes. We will see a re-organized Altar Guild. Lay eucharistic ministers will again visit those who cannot attend Sunday worship services in person.
This fall you will be invited to be part of our annual stewardship campaign, to make progress in racial justice and reconciliation, and to explore new fellowship opportunities.
There will be a renewed effort to better welcome visitors to our faith community. Part of this last effort will be an improvement of the SsAM website to make it more seeker-friendly and to let our light shine brighter in the world.
2022 will end with the Season of Creation, the Season of Advent, and the Season of Christmas.
That is a quick summary of what is planned at SsAM in the last months of 2022. So relax while you can in August — after that, the church will be busy and you can be busy too!
