The Year in Review at the Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew:January 2011: The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Jazz vespers with the Christiana Cultural Arts Center. The drumming circle begins to meet on Wednesday and they begin to build community and bring others into the circle. February 2011: We are blessed to welcome Dr. Brian McLaren as our guest preacher and to lead our Adult Education on Sunday Morning. March 2011: Canon Casson and Fr. Andrews administer ashes to folks on Market Street. April 2011: Holy Week and Easter services are well attended as we welcomed the Rt. Rev. Chilton Knudsen, retired Bishop of Maine as our guest preacher on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil. At the Easter Vigil we baptized and welcomed five new disciples of Jesus. May 2011: Bishop Wright made his annual visitation and the Church was packed on Memorial Day weekend. On that day he confirmed six youth and adults and renewed renewed the Baptismal vows of two adults. June 2011: At the annual meeting in June we celebrated the ministry of Lucia Robinson for her years of faithful service as parish administrator and welcomed Dana Robertson as her successor. October-November 2011: A moving and well planned season of Creation which brought the Rt. Rev. Carol Gallagher, retired Suffragan Bishop of Southern Virginia, The Rev. Dr. Robert Tobin, the Rev. Fletcher Harper and Dr. Bertice Berry to our pulpit. The preaching was superb as were the witness offered by members of the vestry and the congregation. As a result of this hard work we surpassed our goal of $340,000.00 in pledged income for 2012. December 2011: We finished the year with Advent and a wonderful Christmas celebration. |
