Rector Search Questionnaire Survey Results

One of the most important tasks in calling a new Rector in the Episcopal Church is preparing the “Parish Profile” – a descriptive document used to attract priests who are possible candidates. Such a Profile must be based on current self-analysis by the parish. This in turn is largely based on a questionnaire distributed to all parishioners. We are delighted that such a high percentage of the our membership took time to complete the survey. Below you will find links to documents summarizing the results and giving members' comments.

Comments: Many of the survey questions had space available for comments or asked for comments. Here are all the comments in four easy-to-read PDF documents.

  • Part 1, Personal Information: Q6 - Did you transfer from another denomination? Q9 - What is your ethnicity?
  • Part 2, Comments about SsAM's past: Q10 - What activities in recent years have had your support or are the reasons you attend? Q11 - What other Sunday activities have had your support or are the reasons you attend? Q12 - What other programs and activities have your support or are the reasons you attend? Q13 - Are our facilities adequate? Q14 - As a multi-racial parish, do you think SsAM has been doing enough to support its mission to promote peace, justice, reconciliation, and empowerment of all people?
  • Part 3, Comments About SsAM’s Future: Q15 - Worship content and style: should it stay the same or change? Q16 - Should there be more educational opportunities within the parish? Q17 - What family ministries should be improved? Q18 - What community ministries should be improved?
  • Part 4, Views About the New Rector, Final Comments: Q19 - What EXPERIENCE would you like to see in a new Rector? Q20 - What QUALITIES should the new Rector have? Q21 - What SKILLS should the new Rector have? Q22 - Do you favor a "CEO" type of rector or a facilitator of others to do ministry? Q23 - Do you have any final comments to make?
