Pledge Campaign for 2021
As of Friday, November 6, 2020, 71 families and individuals have responded to SsAM’s 2021 pledge campaign. That’s 49% of the 144 pledges we hope to receive — almost half way to that goal. Our dollar goal — $559,000 — is much higher than previous years in hopes that we can keep our current levels of ministry without having to borrow money or draw from our endowment. We are 37% of the way there with $221,618.96 in pledges.
FR. DAVID’S BLOG OF 10/2/2020
The COVID-19 pandemic is forcing all of us to adapt to a new reality that looks nothing like it did back in February of this year. More than 200,000 people in the United States have lost their lives because of the virus and we mourn the loss of so many loved ones.
The health of institutions of all shapes and sizes has been affected as well. Income that was expected has decreased because of the uncertainty of the future.
This is where we find our church during this season of stewardship at the Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew in the fall of 2020. We have had to stand back and reflect where God is leading us. I believe we are being called to find new ways of being creative as a community of faith during this time of being physically apart from one another.
In September, I preached on four different themes focused on stewardship: community, forgiveness, being at home with oneself, and the gifts of time, talent and treasure. Parishioners will soon receive a pledge card that we ask you return to the parish office after your prayerful consideration of what you might be able to give of your time, talent and treasure for 2021.
In the past we would have been able to gather in person to share our stories about stewardship but this year we will not be able to because of the pandemic. Instead, the stewardship committee will host two hour-long webinars focused on different stewardship themes.
The first stewardship webinar took place on Monday afternoon, October 12, 2020. This webinar focused on the state of the parish as we celebrate what God has given us as we look forward to the 25th anniversary next year in 2021. This conversation was with myself, Rachel Gaskell, and Peggy Shane and was moderated by Michelle Smith.
I also wish to invite you to attend the weekly Bible study with Rabbi Krantz. We began meeting in early September and this has been a wonderful way to learn more about the scriptures. Come when your schedule allows but hope you will join us to check it out.
