FR. DAVID’S BLOG OF 2/28/2020: I invite you to participate in Rise Against Hunger, an important outreach event to help alleviate world hunger. This effort is a collaboration between the youth groups of SsAM, Trinity Episcopal Parish, and Immanuel Highlands Episcopal Church.
This event is open to all members of SsAM, Trinity and Immanuel, not just youth. I hope that members of SsAM will consider volunteering on March 15 from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon. The event will take place in the dining room of Trinity Parish, 1108 North Adams Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
There are two ways to register for this effort.
(1) To register to help, CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE RAH WEBSITE and click on the link to register. You will be directed to a page where you complete a form with your name as well as agree to a waiver you can submit electronically on the registration page. (2) You can also contact me personally. Let me know that you wish to participate and you will need to arrive early on the March 15 to Trinity to complete the waiver form in person.
We have already raised $1,721.16 for the event! Our goal was $1,615.68. A question was raised as to how the amount to be raised was determined. The total amount the three parishes has been asked to raise by Rise Against Hunger is $4,847.04. Divided three ways that amount is $1,615.68 per parish.
Rise Against Hunger will provide the staff and the food to pack and volunteers will assist in packing the meals that will then be distributed by Rise Against Hunger.
I hope to see you on March 15. I have been told that this is a high energy event and the more people who come the quicker it will be. Plus, we will experience the benefits of working with other Episcopalians to help our neighbors who are hungry. Please consider registering online to volunteer.
