New Rector Chosen for SsAM

A message from our Senior Warden

We have some wonderful news…

At the December Vestry meeting, the Search Committee gave the Vestry and SsAM a wonderful early Christmas gift … their choice of a new Rector for SsAM. The Vestry unanimously accepted their selection … and after a three-day visit, the candidate accepted the call to become our new minister.

Photo: the Rev. David AndrewsHis name is David Andrews. He is from Trinity Episcopal Church in Castine, Maine. He is a wonderfully spiritual person with a warm smile and a very enthusiastic soul. We will be communicating with you more about the background, experience and interests of our new Rector in the coming days and weeks. But let me say right now, the Vestry wholeheartedly agrees with the Search Committee … he is the right choice for Saints Andrew and Matthew … and I am sure you will agree when you meet him and get to know him.

David and his wife Emily are very excited about joining the SsAM family. His first service as Rector will be on Sunday, Feb. 7 and his second Sunday will be Carnival Sunday … so he will be jumping in with both feet!

We owe the Search Committee a tremendous debt of gratitude for over two years of tireless, dedicated, conscientious work, grounded in God’s spirit and will. We also want to thank the Reverend Canon Carl Kunz and the Reverend Rod Welles for their enthusiastic guidance and leadership of SsAM … stepping in with grace and charm when asked at the last minute and supporting us so strongly for longer than anticipated.

So thank you God for bringing us David Andrews … we are starting on a wonderfully exciting new path. And thank all of you for your loyalty and commitment, and patience and prayers during this transition time … and for traveling with us on this new path … as we go into the bright future … continuing to be a beacon of hope and spirit for all.

Peace and Merry Christmas,
Geoff Sawyer, Senior Warden
