Sunday School and Child Care

The seasons of Lent and Easter can be a fascinating and complex time for young people, filled with stories and rituals that embody deep feelings and miraculous events. This is the perfect time to make strong connections between the spiritual practices and rituals of family life and the life of your faith community.

During Lent, we will be reading passages from the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament, which point us toward God being present with the Hebrew people and with Jesus in both exciting and difficult times.

The season of Easter opens a series of readings from the Book of Acts, which focus on the power of God witnessed by the disciples and its impact on the growth of the Church. I encourage you to celebrate the good news of God’s powerful presence deep inside and all around us every day!

Sunday School Easter Workshop: SsAM’s Sunday School will hold an Easter workshop on April 4 from 10:30 to 12:00 noon. The children will create Easter cards for parishioners on the prayer list, dye Easter eggs, and plant spring flowers. All are welcome to attend. For details, call 656-6628.

2009’s Christmas Pageant was a HIT! The children sang and performed beautifully, and it was a spirit-filled service. Special thanks to all who participated for making this year’s performance a success. Click here to see pictures of the Pageant.

SsAM's Sunday School Philosophy

SsAM's Sunday School follows the philosophies of the "Children's Charter" for the Episcopal Church. Each child is a gift from God. For details, click here.

Child Care

Childcare is provided beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays (except for summers) so people can participate in Adult Education Activities. We also provide a safe place for children and grandchildren of the choir during rehearsal time.

Child Care in Summer (No Sunday School)

For the summer months, we provide childcare for children five and under. We start each Sunday at 10:30 am and continue until the end of the service. If you would like your child to join you for communion, please let us know when you arrive.

Annual Christmas Pageant

Each year, children dress up to participate in this traditional telling of the birth of Jesus. Click here to learn more about children and music at SsAM.

Become A Teacher

Teaching Sunday School once a month is an honorable way to give back to God in a way that blesses you as the giver. Preparation time is minimal. Materials are provided in advance so you can read and prepare at your leisure.

Safe-Church Training

The Diocese of Delaware requires anyone having activities with children, whether paid or volunteer, to be trained in Sexual Assault Misconduct Awareness. Sensitivity in this area is crucial to the safety of our children.
