Sunday School for Children, Ages 3-12
Sundays, 10:30 a.m. resumes in September, 2008.

During the summer months, we will provide childcare for children ages 5 and younger during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service until Sunday School reopens in September.

Exciting Times Ahead for Sunday School at SsAM!

In September, a fantastic program begins with a new curriculum and an integrated music program. To be a part of this ministry, as a teacher or assistant, please call the church at 656-6628.

SsAM's Sunday School Philosophy
SsAM's Sunday School follows the philosophies of the "Children's Charter" for the Episcopal Church. Each child is a gift from God. For details, click here.

Music is Part of our Curriculum
In addition to our regular curriculum, this year the children will spend several minutes each Sunday with a music leader to develop a love of singing. Once a month the children will share a song with the congregation at the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

Annual Christmas Pageant
Each year, children dress up to participate in this traditional telling of the birth of Jesus. Click here to see Christmas Pageant photos from 2007.

Child Care
Childcare is provided beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays (except for summers) so people can participate in Adult Education Activities. We also provide a safe place for children and grandchildren of the choir during rehearsal time.

Become A Teacher
Teaching Sunday School once a month is an honorable way to give back to God in a way that blesses you as the giver. Preparation time is minimal. Materials are provided in advance so you can read and prepare at your leisure.

Safe-Church Training
The Diocese of Delaware requires anyone having activities with children, whether paid or volunteer, to be trained in Sexual Assault Misconduct Awareness. Sensitivity in this area is crucial to the safety of our children.

Be of One Mind, Live in Peace.
And the God of Love and Peace Will Be With You.

Our Current Sunday School Program:

Have you seen or heard the many visible signs of SsAM’s Sunday School program? The multi-colored crosses that our teachers wear, SsAM’s website, the sound of music each Sunday, the Sunday School bulletin board, children’s pictures, bright colors and inviting rooms, laughter, prayers? Look for additional signs as they sing one Sunday a month during the 10:30 a.m. service, the Advent program and the Christmas pageant and hunting for Bible verses throughout the church.

What else is on the horizon? During October, I “audited” the Sunday program. I wanted to understand how the morning “flowed,” and how the children related to each other and the teachers, how much time was spent doing each task.

Currently, our children worship, sing and study together. As attendance stabilizes, we are looking at creative ways to breakout reflection time into two age groups. We will use the concept of the one-room school house.

Supporting our children is on-going. What can you do? Help our children participate, become a once a month teachers assistant, a teacher, assist in one of the special events, donate supplies when asked, listen, look and pray.
